Who Are We?

High Technology High School

A Techie School

Since 1991, High Technology High School has been a chapter of TSA. It has undergone many leadership changes since then. As of the 2016-2017 school year, our chapter is home to 150 members, which comprises over 50% of the school's population. With students possessing immense talent and drive, there's no doubt that HTHS has been an extremely active member of the Technology Student Association...sending students to the State and National Conferences annually. In addition, we are proud to send students to become state officers as well, thereby continuing to spread the love of technological learning throughout NJ TSA.

ARCHITECTURE
State Conference
The New Jersey TSA State Conference is held every year at the College of New Jersey in Ewing Township, NJ. At this event, High Tech students have several opportunities to showcase their engineering prowess and critical thinking skills in a variety of different competitions. With over 30 individual and team events total, there's no doubt that each High Tech student gets an excellent opportunity to explore and learn more about their talents. From Fashion Design to Extemporaneous Speech to Webmaster, each event encompasses a different branch in the widespread field of STEM.

2016 State Conference

HTHS is very strong in the State Competition. Every HTHS TSA member dedicates weeks and months preparing for or developing their projects. Our hard work pays off. There are 38 possible awards for all ranks: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. We earn a large proportion of these awards.

NATIONWIDE

TSA Nationals

The TSA National Conference is an annual event that is held in a different U.S. city each year. In 2016, the state of Tennessee hosted the national conference at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville. At this conference, High Tech students shone with 7 trophies, 2 of which were 1st place finishes -- VEX and Software Development. This year, 2017, the TSA National Conference is going to be held at the Rosen Shingle Creek center in Orlando, Florida, where high school and middle school students from all over the country come together at one competitive gathering once again to showcase their skills and compare their ideas with students from different areas of the country. In addition to competition, students have the opportunity to interact with other like-minded geniuses, the future engineers and scientists, from other schools across the entire country and beyond.

Nationals

The conference begins with a Conference Kick-Off where the participants are welcomed to the event. Students can network and meet people from other states in a pin-exchange. Later, at the TSA Meet and Greet, students can meet national officer candidates along with educational and industry representatives. Competitions will take place throughout the conference, and the awards ceremony at the end will recognize the top ten competitors in each event. The National Conference is a great learning experience and an excellent chance to meet people from all over the country; everyone goes home a winner!

VEX

The VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) is a robotics event for high schoolers. Teams build robots to complete an annual challenge. For the 2016-2017 season, the VRC challenge is STARSTRUCK, in which two alliances, composed of 2 teams each, earn points by scoring stars and cubes in designated zones in their respective zones and by hanging their robots on the Hanging Bar. This is the second year that the 5-member HTHS team, Team 765A, competed in the VRC challenge. Also, this is the first year that a secondary HTHS VEX team, Team 765X, competed at the regional and state levels. They won the most prestigious award available, the Excellence Award, at their regional competition, where they were also tournament finalists. This qualified them for the state-level competition. These awards qualify them for the international level of competition, VEX Worlds, where they will be competing in mid-April.

CREED:

I believe that Technology Education holds an important place in my life in the technical world. I believe there is a need for the development of good attitudes concerning work, tools, materials, experimentation, and processes of industry. Guided by my teachers, artisans from industry, and my own initiative, I will strive to do my best in making my school, community, state, and nation better places in which to live. I will accept the responsibilities that are mine. I will accept the theories that are supported by proper evidence. I will explore on my own for safer, more effective methods of working and living. I will strive to develop a cooperative attitude and will exercise tact and respect for other individuals. Through the work of my hands and mind, I will express my ideas to the best of my ability. I will make it my goal to do better each day the task before me, and to be steadfast in my belief in my God, and my fellow Americans.
